A consistent bestseller, J’adore has been on our screens and in our department stores for over a decade. With a tall elegant bottle, Charlize Theron is the perfect embodiment of the perfume as its ambassador. I think the choice of a celebrity who is approaching middle age is a clue to the target market of this fragrance. I don’t think I ever sold this perfume to a lady under 30, but most of the time it would be men buying gifts for their partners.
The fragrance is a heavy floral, with the EDT versions being much lighter. It lasts for a good amount of time, and it’s one of those that when you spray it at home you can smell it for a good 30mins afterwards.
Of course the Dior label comes with a heafty price tag, which personally I’m not sure is reflected in the quality or lasting power of the fragrance. But unusually I can’t recommend an alternative cheaper fragrance, as there is no other perfume on the market with a entirely similar smell. Perhaps this is what has kept the fragrance so popular compared to Dior Addict which seems to reinvent itself every year.
Gift Verdict: Fans of floral fragrances, age 30 plus
Top Notes: Jasmine, melon, lilly of the valley, magnolia, tuberose
Base Notes: Vanilla, cedar, rose
