When was the last time you had dinner on the roof of Selfridges? I’ve heard a lot about the pop-up restaurant Forest On The Roof since it opened a few weeks ago, and I have to say, it didn’t disappoint.
It’s a fabulous view from the top of Selfirdges, and why not make the most of this space in central London, and put a pop-up restaurant there.
The restaurant is accessed by it’s own lift which is just off the fragrance hall at the front of Selfridges. After walking through a corridor lined with baubles and wood you reach the restaurant.
Everything about it is Christmassy. With the buzz of the people, the smell of mulled wine and the food, it really makes you feel like Chirstmas has arrived. All it’s missing is a real wood burning fire! (Though I’m sure Health & Safety wouldn’t been overly keen on that idea)
We got a cute seat by the window and immediately ordered mulled wine which was delicious. For starters we shared a cheese fondue with garlic bread sticks. The fondue wasn’t the usual sticky cheese; it was quite watery, but tasted completely normal and delicious.
I then went for the chicken with kale, which came with a side of cheesy potatoes. We ordered some truffle chips as well – these were the highlight for me – the best truffle chips I’ve ever had. They had loads of truffle all the way through the chips. Scrumptious.
The music in the restaurant was really good, up-beat and modern, but not too loud. The DJ got it spot on.
To sum up, I’d go back to Forest on the Roof in a heart beat. The food and wine were great, atmosphere nice and festive, the music fun and the service good. If you are near-by you must check it out before it disappears after Christmas.
