I was lucky be invited to the relaunch of the Covent Garden branch of Venchi. Famous for its gelato and chocolates , Venhci’s goal is “To allow everybody, every day, to enjoy a simple and genuine moment of real pleasure, a piece of the Italian lifestyle.”
I’m always partial to a gelato, and apparently so are a lot of other people; there was a huge queue outside the door. At the event it was great to meet the grandson of the founder, Silviano Venchi, who explained that their gelato uses fresh milk and is made on site each day by a trained gelato maker in the store. Its also free from chemical flavourings, colourings and hydrogenated fats.
Inspired by 140 years of Italian legacy, Venchi crafts its chocolates in the unique Piedmont style,
which earned the region its name of the “birthplace of Italian chocolate.” Ingredients such as
Piedmont IGP hazelnuts and Sicilian pistachios reflect the story and Italian heritage of artisanal
chocolate making, which has been passed down through each generation.
In addition to Covent Garden, Venchi also have stores in South Kensington, the King’s Road, and Hampstead. The chocolate and gelato at Venchi are so moreish, if you’re in the area you must pop into one of their stores and try it!
